SHIPBOARD TRAINING MANAGEMENT ONLINE Powered by Maritime Education Essentials

WELCOME to the world of paperless offices. A paperless office is a work environment in which the use of paper is eliminated or greatly reduced. This is done by converting documents and other papers into digital form. Proponents claim that "going paperless" can save money, boost productivity, save space, make documentation and information sharing easier, keep personal information more secure, and help the environment. The concept can be extended to communications outside the office as well

The UC-METC, Shipboard Training Office, is adopting the paperless system to make more accessible to the cadet and make the cadet more independent with less contact of the office personnel.

The first STO process that will going paperless is the Application of the Certificate of Validation,  Assessment and Approval of the cadet's 12 or 36 months. Where the returning cadets instead of waiting for the documents to be evaluated, they can immediately upload the documents to the STO documents database, eliminating the long waiting time only to know that they are lacking documents.

Just like any changes, there are also changes in requirements as the system requires instead of photocopy this it will be a soft copy (scan copy) of all the required documents, except TRB, Journal and Workbook.
